SEPT 27: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday called for uniting against terrorism, and said that anti-terror narratives pressed by Terrorist Resistant Front (TRF) on social media pose a grave threat if ignored.
In his keynote address at an event at Tagore Hall in Srinagar, LG Manoj Sinha urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to stand in unison against terrorism and actively combat extremist propaganda to safeguard tranquility and conducive atmosphere.
“It is important to pay attention to the anti-national narratives spread by TRF on Social Media. We should not remain silent as it is dangerous,” LG emphasized.
LG Sinha exhorted upon the citizens to come forward in the fight against terrorism, and said, “The fight against terrorism is not the responsibility of security forces, however, civilians also should contribute their share. Terrorism must be rooted out not just by the forces but also by citizens. And to accomplished this goal, the citizens must step forward.”
Highlighting the plight of Kashmiris, LG Sinha said, “Regardless of decades of suffering, J&K is witnessing important transformation with stone pelting becoming a history and gradual decline in recruitment of local terrorists.”
Additionally, LG Sinha said that following the nullification of Article 370 in Agust 2019, J&K witnessed new era of tranquility and progress.
Sinha said that terrorism and left-wing extremism are on the death bed across the country, particularly in the northeast, and exhorted confidence that Naxalism will be rooted out at the earliest.
LG said that granting ST status to Pahari community, strengthening Forest Right Act underscores the commitment of the Government to social and economic justice.
