Jammu: Three people were killed and seven others injured in separate road accidents reported from Ramban, Samba and Srinagar on Thursday, highlighting a spate of crashes across Jammu and Kashmir.
In Ramban, two persons were killed and seven others critically injured after an SUV carrying nine people skidded off the road while travelling towards Chunthan on Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as the vehicle’s driver, Vijay Singh, and 26-year-old Sunil Singh. One of the injured was referred to Jammu, while the remaining six were shifted to Government Medical College, Anantnag, for treatment.
In Samba district, a 22-year-old man was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Police Station Bari Brahmana on Thursday morning.
The victim was identified as Lulain Surain, a resident of Jharkhand. Police reached the spot after the incident, took the body into custody and initiated proceedings to identify the vehicle and establish the circumstances leading to the crash.
Meanwhile, an Army vehicle and a goods truck were involved in another accident at Bemina on the Pantha Chowk-Parimpora Bypass in Srinagar.
Officials said the Rajasthan-registered truck hit the Army vehicle from behind, pushing it over the road divider before the truck overturned after its driver lost control. No injuries were reported in the Srinagar accident.
