APRIL 30: In view of the Pahalgam carnage that claimed 26 lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is second time chairing the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meet in New Delhi.
The meeting is being attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Finance Minister Nirmal Sitaraman, Union Raod and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and National Security Advisor of India Ajit Doval.
It is learnt that the meet will be followed by Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA), the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) and a full Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The previous CCS was convened on April 23 and an overview of Pahalgam terror attack was given.
Earlier in the meeting on April 23, The Indus Water Treaty of 1960 held in abeyance with immediate effect, integrated Check Post Attari closed, Pakistani nationals not permitted to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES).
The meet was also convened after 2019 Pulwama attack on the heels of which Pakistan was removed from the list of most favoured nations and also Surgical Strikes happened.
