Srinagar, June 4: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast wet weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the next two days, with rain, thunderstorms, hailstorms and strong winds expected in several areas.
According to the weather department, most parts of the Union Territory are likely to witness one or two spells of rainfall accompanied by thunder and gusty winds on June 4 and 5. Some locations may also experience brief periods of heavy showers.
The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy on June 6, with chances of isolated light showers at a few places. From June 7 onwards, conditions are likely to improve, with mainly hot and dry weather predicted across the region.
The MeT department has warned of thunderstorms, lightning and hailstorm activity along with winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph, with stronger gusts possible at some locations through June 6.
Officials have also cautioned that intense short-duration rainfall in isolated areas of both Jammu and Kashmir divisions could lead to flash floods, mudslides and localized disruptions on June 4 and 5.
Residents have been advised to remain indoors during severe weather conditions, avoid water activities such as boating and shikara rides, and stay alert in landslide- and flood-prone areas.
