Police destroys poppy cultivation in south Kashmir

Srinagar, May 7: Jammu and Kashmir police in a special drive against narcotic drugs destroyed poppy cultivation spread over 12 kanals of land in south Kashmir district of Kulgam, a police spokesman said.

Meanwhile, police in another south Kashmir district of Anantnag said campaign against drug suppliers will be unceasing, undeterred and uncompromising till each and every drug supplier is brought to justice.

Police spokesman said during a special drive police destroyed poppy cultivation spread over nearly about four kanals of land at Nowpora Frisal in Kulgam.

He said in police also destroyed Poppy cultivation spread over nearly about eight Kanals of Land in Ponewa and its adjacent areas falling under the Jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Kulgam.

Spokesman said our policing campaign against drug suppliers will be unceasing, undeterred & uncompromising till each and every drug supplier is brought to justice. This is our commitment with people of Anantnag district.

He said during the month of April 2021, Anantnag Police registered 35 FIR's under NDPS Act and arrested 40 Drug peddlers and recovered huge consignment of contraband.
