Srinagar ,May 14: Jammu and Kashmir Health and Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday demanded a fair and transparent probe into the alleged NEET-UG paper leak case, stating that those responsible must be dealt with strictly, regardless of their status or influence.
Addressing reporters in Srinagar, the minister expressed concern over the impact of the alleged irregularities on students who spend years preparing for one of India’s toughest competitive examinations.
“It is extremely unfortunate because students dedicate immense hard work and time to succeed in this examination,” she said.
Itoo stressed that any wrongdoing in such exams directly affects the future of deserving candidates and undermines trust in the education system.
She called for a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the matter and said stringent punishment should be ensured for everyone found involved in the alleged fraud.
“The inquiry must be conducted in a proper and transparent manner. Whoever is found responsible should face strict legal action,” she added.
Replying to a question on the administration’s measures to reduce government expenditure, including downsizing official vehicles, the minister said every citizen and institution should contribute towards easing the country’s challenges whenever possible.
“If any initiative helps reduce the country’s problems, then all of us should play our part,” she said.
On reports suggesting a possible transition to virtual classes due to recent developments, Itoo clarified that no such decision has been taken by the government so far.
