NOV 25: With cold wave gripping Jammu and Kashmir and posing a challenge for students to travel to institutes on a daily basis, the J&K School Education Department (JKSED) on Tuesday announced the Winter Break schedule for all Government and recognised Private Schools up to intermediate level in Kashmir Division and Winter-Zones of Jammu Division.
It is learnt that schools will adhere the phased schedule with different beginning dates for various classes.
The vacation for the Pre-primary or Balvatika students will commence from November 26, 2025 to February 28, 2026.
Middle School, that underpins, classes up to 8th standard are scheduled to begin their Winter vacation from December 1, 2025 until the end of February, 2026.
From Class 9 to Class 12, the schedule will begin on December 11, 2025 and will wind up on February 22, 2026.
It is mandatory for all teachers to remain available for academic activities during the Winter vacations.
Besides, the teachers are required to report back on February 20, 2026 to make arrangements for re-opening of the schools.
The School Education Department has warned that stringent action will be taken against any violation of the schedule by heads of institutions.
