Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will meet in Srinagar from September 21, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha formally summoning the House for its upcoming session.
According to a bulletin issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat on Wednesday, the Lieutenant Governor has summoned the Assembly to meet at 10 am on Monday, September 21, 2026, under Section 18(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.
The Assembly Secretariat has asked all legislators to attend the session at the appointed date, time and place.
Ahead of the session, the Secretariat has notified deadlines for members to submit questions, Bills and resolutions.
As per the bulletin, legislators can submit not more than four starred and four unstarred questions. Notices for the questions have to be submitted by August 25, 2026, in relaxation of Rule 32 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Members have also been permitted to submit not more than one Bill, with August 25 fixed as the deadline. The provision has been made in relaxation of Sub-rule (3) of Rule 65 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business.
For resolutions, legislators can submit not more than two resolutions under Rule 174. The deadline for submitting notices of resolutions has been fixed as September 5, 2026.
The Secretariat said notices are to be submitted through the NeVA platform of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly or through the official email of the Secretary, J&K Legislative Assembly, in MS Word format.
The summoning of the House follows an order issued by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on August 11.
In the order, the Lieutenant Governor said he was exercising the powers vested in him under Section 18(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, to summon the Legislative Assembly of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to meet at Srinagar at 10 am on September 21.
Assembly Secretary Manoj Kumar Pandit, in a separate communication to members, asked all legislators to attend the session in accordance with Rule 3 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Secretariat has ordered that meetings and other affairs of the Financial and other Committees of the House shall remain suspended with effect from August 22, 2026, until further orders, in view of the commencement of the Autumn Session 2026-27 from September 21.
With the session date formally announced, legislators have been given specific timelines for submitting questions, Bills and resolutions ahead of the Assembly proceedings.
