Jammu, October 31, 2025 — In a landmark judgment, the Anti-Corruption Court in Jammu has sentenced
former Naib Tehsildar Abdul Rashid and Patwari Mohammad Rafiq to
four years of rigorous imprisonment for accepting a bribe of ₹90,000 in a land mutation case.
The conviction follows a detailed investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which had laid a trap in 2015
after receiving a complaint from a local resident. The officials were caught red-handed while accepting the bribe in exchange for
processing land records.
- Both officials were convicted under Section 5(1)(d) read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 161 of the IPC.
- Each convict was also fined ₹10,000.
- The judgment reinforces the administration’s commitment to zero tolerance for corruption in public service.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau welcomed the verdict, calling it a strong message against misuse of authority and a step toward restoring public trust in governance.
