MAY 22: A fierce encounter breaks out in Kishtwar district on Thursday.
The encounter raged between security forces and terrorists in Singhpora area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Exchange of fire started between Security Forces and terrorists in the Singhpora area of Chatroo in Kishtwar,” Jammu and Kashmir Police said.
Following the joint cordon and search operation by J&K Police, Paramilitary Forces and Indian Army, the gunfight erupted in Kishtwar.
It is learnt that three- four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists are believed to be trapped in the areas.
Earlier, two encounters in Shopian and Awantipora districts resulted in the killing of six terrorists by security forces after the Operation Sindoor which was in response to Pahalgam massacre that claimed 26 civilian lives.
