AUG 18: In a swift action against lawlessness, the Superintendent of Police on Monday suspended a constable after he had assaulted a Village Defence Guard member in Doda district.
According to the official reports, the Police said taken cognizance of the alleged misconduct involving SgCt. Mohd Zia of Police Post Premnagar for alleged assaulting a Village Defence Group (VDG) member in view of that SP Doda Sandeep Mehta has taken swift and firm action.
The SgCt, Mohd Zia has been placed under suspension with immediate effect and a departmental enquiry has been ordered wherein a senior officer has been appointed as enquiry officer to carry out thorough probe.
It is learnt that the deadline for the submission of the enquiry report is within a fortnight.
The enquiry officer has been directed to take stock of the incident and submit specific findings in this regard.
The matter is thoroughly investigated by the District Police, and any individual found involved in misconduct shall be dealt with stringent laws.
