Jammu, May 9: Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached a residential property valued at nearly Rs 93 lakh in Chandigarh as part of an investigation into a narcotics case registered at Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station in Jammu.
Officials said the case originated on January 14 when police arrested Arun Singh, a resident of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal, during a naka checking operation and allegedly recovered 5.61 grams of heroin from his possession. Following the recovery, a case under the NDPS Act was registered and further investigation was launched.
During the probe, investigators reportedly uncovered links to a larger drug trafficking network and tracked financial transactions believed to be connected to narcotics dealings. The investigation later extended to Chandigarh, where co-accused Rishi Singh, brother of Arun Singh, was residing.
According to police, a residential property situated in Sector 38-A of Chandigarh was allegedly purchased using money generated through illegal drug trade activities linked to the case.
Acting under provisions of the NDPS Act dealing with illegally acquired assets, a team from Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station attached the property on Thursday.
Police officials termed the move part of an intensified drive against narcotics trafficking and efforts to dismantle the financial networks supporting the drug trade in Jammu and Kashmir.
