Srinagar: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has suspended J.S. Kapoor, District Mineral Officer (DMO) Ramban, with immediate effect, following allegations regarding his conduct.
The suspension is in accordance with Rule 31 of the J&K Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.
The action was taken after the Directorate of Geology and Mining submitted a formal reference (Letter No. 1165/MCC/DGM/DMO/09/II/1241-42 dated 26.03.2025) to the Mining Department.
As per Government Order No: 13-JK(MNG) of 2025, Kapoor will remain attached to the Directorate of Geology and Mining, Jammu, during the period of suspension.
In the interim, Mohammad Imtiaz, DMO Reasi—already holding additional charge of Udhampur—has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of overseeing mineral operations in Ramban district until further notice.
The Government has also directed the Director, Geology and Mining to propose a panel of officers for the constitution of a committee to conduct a detailed inquiry into the allegations against Kapoor.
The suspension order was signed by Vikramjit Singh, IPS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Mining Department.
