Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah unveiled the Jammu and Kashmir Budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, describing it as a reflection of the dreams, needs, and aspirations of the people of the Union Territory.
In a passionate address, Abdullah emphasized the collective responsibility to confront challenges head-on and work towards sustainable development, economic growth, and social inclusivity.
The budget, which Abdullah termed as a “true reflection of the people’s aspirations,” focuses on fostering political empowerment, meaningful employment, sustainable development, and robust economic growth. He highlighted the unprecedented voter turnout in the recent assembly elections as a testament to the people’s unwavering resolve to move beyond the shadows of past turmoil and actively contribute to the region’s journey of progress.
“Despite numerous challenges and limitations, we must collectively pledge to confront these issues with unwavering resolve,” Abdullah stated. “This budget is a step towards fulfilling the dreams of our people, the needs of future generations, and the aspirations of every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Abdullah expressed gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their enthusiastic and confident participation in the recent elections. He assured them that the government remains committed to serving them with sincerity and fulfilling their aspirations for a prosperous and thriving region.
The budget prioritizes strengthening grassroots democracy, boosting local industries, tourism, and agriculture, and creating meaningful employment opportunities. It also emphasizes eco-friendly infrastructure, renewable energy, and conservation of natural resources. Additionally, the budget includes programs aimed at bridging gaps in education, healthcare, and social welfare for marginalized communities.
