Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted two committees to study and evaluate web-based disaster management portals, including the Decision Support System (DSS), Disaster Risk Database (DRDB), and Integrated Operational Forecasting System (IOFS).
The Union Territory Level Coordination Committee (UTLCC), chaired by the Administrative Secretary of the Disaster Management Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) Department, will oversee the overall evaluation and technical aspects of the portals. It includes officials from departments such as Fire and Emergency Services, Ecology and Environment, Geological Survey of India, and the India Meteorological Department.
Additionally, the District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC), led by the Deputy Commissioner, will regularly review and address issues related to these portals at the district level. Both committees aim to ensure effective disaster management and continuous updates to hazard and risk assessments for the region.
These committees are set to enhance coordination and improve disaster response capabilities across J&K.
