SRINAGAR, 20 FEB: Jammu and Kashmir BJP Spokesman Altaf Thakur, on Thursday, severely reprimanded the presence of Waleed Karra, son of J&K Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra at Government review meeting in Srinagar.
Terming it an act of ‘political nepotism’ and ‘violation of democratic fundamentals’, Thakur questioned the presence of Waleed Karra in the official review meeting.
Thakur said how unelected individual is permitted to participate in an official meeting attended by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and other senior bureaucrats.
Thakur asked, “Why no one has objected his breach of democratic protocol?”
In his defence, Waleed Karra has said that he had been nominated by his father (Tariq Hameed) to represent him in such meetings which is also unconstitutional.
BJP stalwart said some politicians in Jammu and Kashmir of turning a blind eye towards transparency and accountability, and considering the administration as their family affair.
Altaf Thakur sought stringent action of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in this regard.
Jammu and Kashmir requires administration to adhere the principals of transparency and accountability said Altaf Thakur, adding, such incidents make mockery of Democratic setup.
Pertinent to mention, that Waleed Karra, son of Tariq Hameed Karra devoid of any charge attended the meeting of Government that triggered huge row and the Government hasn’t responded in this regard. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Health and Education Sakina Itoo in Srinagar.
