SEPT 9: Since the high-voltage gunbattle is underway between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam, the encounter has entered second day on Tuesday in the district.
It is learnt that after a short lull of firing overnight, the anti-terror operation resumed this morning in the forest belt of Kulgam.
As of now, two terrorists, including one believed to be a Pakistani national, have been gunned down and two soldiers have made the supreme sacrifice in the fierce encounter that raged on Monday.

The gunbattle erupted as a joint team of Army, J&K Police, CRPF Srinagar acted on the tip of the presence of suspected elements in the forest belt in Guddar of Kulgam. The vigilant soldiers observed, upon being challenged, terrorists fired upon, prompting the exchange of gunbattle.
J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat visited the encounter site in Guddar and commended the joint operation led by the security forces.
