Jammu: Former Rajya Sabha Member And Senior BJP Leader Shamsher Singh Manhas Passes Away
Born on 4 January 1960 in Jammu, Shamsher Singh Manhas was the son of Janak Singh and spent much of his life serving as a political and social worker.
An agriculturist by profession, he dedicated his life to uplifting the socio-political ideology of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir.
His long association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a Pracharak added to his stature as a committed leader with deep roots in public service.
Known as a powerful politician and a staunch supporter of nationalist ideals, Manhas left an indelible mark on the political framework of the region.
During his illustrious career, he served as the State President of the BJP, demonstrating his leadership and organizational skills.
In February 2015, Manhas was elected to the Rajya Sabha, where he represented Jammu and Kashmir as a BJP member until his term ended on 9 February 2021.
