Sopore, September 3: Sopore Police has attached two double-storey buildings, six shops and around two kanals of land in the Dooru area of Sopore after completing the required legal formalities under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The properties are associated with the premises of Islamia Model School, Dooru, which has remained closed since 2022. The action was taken in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged links between the properties and the proscribed Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu & Kashmir.
The case relates to FIR No. 42/2025 registered at Police Station Sopore under Sections 10 and 13 of the UA(P) Act. During the investigation, police examined official and revenue records and carried out verification with the concerned authorities to establish the alleged linkage of the premises.
Following a detailed dossier submitted by Sopore Police, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, issued an order on August 12, 2026, notifying the school premises under Section 8(1) of the UA(P) Act, 1967. The notified property includes two double-storey buildings, six shops and two kanals of land.
Subsequently, on the request of Sopore Police, the District Magistrate, Baramulla, passed the required orders under Sections 8(3) and 8(4) of the Act.
Acting on these orders, a police team along with an Executive Magistrate carried out the physical attachment of the properties at Dooru in accordance with the law.
Police said the action followed a sustained investigation into properties and assets allegedly connected with proscribed organisations and their networks.
Sopore Police said it would continue taking lawful action against properties linked to banned organisations and ensure that such assets are not used for activities prohibited under law.
