Jammu: Tawi Wonderland Jammu, the city’s first waste-to-art theme park, has generated revenue of around Rs 34 lakh from entry tickets alone in about 20 days, while nearly 47,000 people have visited the Bhagwati Nagar attraction since its inauguration by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on August 6, credible sources told The News Now.
Around 12,000 entry tickets had been issued at Tawi Wonderland till August 26, while the total visitor footfall crossed 46,000, the sources said.
The early figures indicate a strong response to Tawi Wonderland Park, which has emerged as a new recreational and family destination in Jammu within weeks of its opening.
Located at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, and spread over around 40 kanals, Tawi Wonderland has been developed as a waste-to-art park using recycled and discarded materials, including steel and iron scrap, broken tiles, old cycles, vehicle parts and other waste.
One of the main attractions at Tawi Wonderland Jammu is the display of replicas of 14 national and international monuments. These include the Eiffel Tower, Colosseum, White House, Sphinx, Angkor Wat and Taktsang Monastery, besides the Taj Mahal, Statue of Unity, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and Gateway of India.
The park also features replicas of two prominent landmarks from Jammu and Kashmir — the Chenab Railway Bridge and Akhnoor Fort.
The Jammu waste-to-art park has been developed under a Public-Private Partnership model between Jammu Smart City Limited and Z-Tech India Limited.
Following the encouraging response to Tawi Wonderland, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Jammu Smart City Limited are now developing a Botanical Garden adjacent to the park, expanding the Bhagwati Nagar area into a larger recreational and green space.
JMC Commissioner and Jammu Smart City Limited CEO Dr Devansh Yadav, in a video message on August 18, said the Botanical Garden coming up just behind Tawi Wonderland would include a water body and a Miyawaki dense urban forest.
The proposed garden is expected to provide an eco-friendly space for morning walkers, joggers, families and other visitors, while adding another attraction next to Tawi Wonderland.

Dr Yadav also said the authorities were planning to introduce more activities during weekends and involve local youth, with an effort to develop the area into a larger activity and recreational hub for Jammu.
He further said that food waste generated at the site would be converted into compost through aerobic composting units, in keeping with the waste-to-wonder concept.
With around Rs 34 lakh generated through entry tickets, over 12,000 tickets issued and nearly 47,000 visitors in less than three weeks, Tawi Wonderland has made a strong start as a new tourist and recreational attraction in Jammu.
The upcoming Botanical Garden near Tawi Wonderland is expected to further expand the Bhagwati Nagar site into a larger green and recreational destination for residents and visitors.
