Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has issued a directive mandating all public servants to submit their annual property returns by January 31, 2025, through the online Property Returns System (PRS Portal), in compliance with the Jammu and Kashmir Public Servants Declaration of Assets Act, 1983.
The submission window for the property returns will open on January 1, 2025, and will close on the specified deadline of January 31, 2025. The online portal, which can be accessed at https://prs.jk.gov.in, is designed to streamline the process of filing property returns for J&K government employees.
Under the provisions of Section 9 of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Men and Public Servants Declaration of Assets Act, every public servant is required to submit their annual property returns, including assets held by them and their family members. The returns must be submitted within the first month of each year, with reasons provided for any increase in assets, along with the sources of such increase.
Failure to submit property returns will result in penalties, as outlined under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Additionally, non-compliance will lead to the denial of vigilance clearance for the concerned employee. The Government has also emphasized that criminal misconduct charges could be pressed for non-submission of returns without valid reasons.
To facilitate the process, the J&K Government has launched the PRS Portal, aimed at making the submission of property returns more efficient and employee-friendly. Employees are advised to file their returns by the deadline, and Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) have been directed to ensure all employees are registered on the portal and submit their property details within the designated timeframe.
The PRS Portal will automatically close on January 31, 2025, and no submissions will be accepted after the deadline. Employees are urged to complete the filing process promptly to avoid any penalties or delays in their official procedures.
