Anantnag, May 20: In recognition of the bravery shown by Aadil Hussain Shah during last year’s Pahalgam terror attack, the Jammu and Kashmir government has renamed a government school in south Kashmir after him.
The institution, formerly known as Hapatnar High School, has now been given the name “Shaheed Aadil Memorial High School.” The renaming ceremony was held in Anantnag and attended by Minister Sakeena Itoo.
Officials said Aadil Shah lost his life while reportedly trying to protect tourists during the attack, an act that was widely praised across the region.
Speaking at the event, Sakeena Itoo said Aadil’s courage and sacrifice would always be remembered. She added that naming the school after him was a way to honour his contribution and ensure that future generations learn about his bravery and humanity.
The minister also said the decision reflects the government’s respect for those who put others before themselves during difficult times.
