Jammu, May 18: BJP spokesperson Gaurav Gupta on Monday said the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan” launched under Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has intensified the fight against narco-terrorism and drug networks in Jammu and Kashmir.
Gupta said the administration has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and those involved in financing terrorism through narcotics trade. He claimed that during the ongoing 100-day anti-drug campaign, hundreds of drug peddlers were arrested, several FIRs registered and large quantities of heroin, charas and ganja seized across the Union Territory.
He also said properties linked to drug trafficking worth crores of rupees were attached, while illegal structures raised through drug money were demolished during the drive.
Calling the campaign a major movement against drugs, Gupta said youth, students and civil society members are actively participating in awareness drives and padyatras across Jammu and Kashmir.
“The era of political protection to drug mafias is over. Strict action against narco-elements is necessary to save the youth from drugs and terrorism,” he said.
Gupta appealed to parents, teachers and social organisations to support the “Nasha Mukt J&K” mission and help create a drug-free society.
