Srinagar, May 9: At least eight people were injured, some of them critically, in three separate road accidents reported during the night in Srinagar and nearby areas, officials said on Saturday.
The first accident took place at Dumail Crossing in the Narbal area, where two persons were injured after a vehicle met with an accident late at night. The injured were shifted to JVC Hospital Bemina for treatment.
The victims were identified as Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, 26, son of Mohammad Ayoub Sheikh, and Muzammil Ahmad Dar, 23, son of Shabir Ahmad Dar, both residents of Zanikote, Srinagar.
Hospital sources said Mudasir suffered serious head injuries and remains in critical condition, while Muzammil sustained injuries to his legs along with head trauma and is also stated to be critical.
In another incident, two persons were injured after the driver of an Alto car reportedly lost control of the vehicle near Astan Sharief Kirmani Abad, close to a petrol pump. Officials said both injured persons were shifted to JVC Hospital Bemina in critical condition. The vehicle involved bore registration number JK01M-9757.
Meanwhile, three more persons were injured in a separate accident near Shalimar. According to police, the victims were travelling on a scooty when an unidentified vehicle hit them, leaving them injured.
Police from Police Station Harwan shifted the injured to SKIMS Soura after they were initially taken to PHC Dargah.
The injured were identified as Hashim Rather, son of Ajaz Ahmad Rather, Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Farooq Ahmad Dar, and Imraan Ahmad Lone, son of Nazir Ahmad Lone — all residents of Brein Nishat.
Doctors said Hashim Rather, 20, is stable, while 32-year-old Shabir Ahmad Dar is also recovering. However, Imraan Ahmad Lone, 24, remains in critical condition.
Police have registered the cases and started further investigation into the accidents.
