Srinagar, April 24: Six tourists from Bengaluru were injured after a lift reportedly malfunctioned and collapsed inside a hotel in the Hyderpora area of Srinagar, officials said on Friday.
The incident occurred at Hotel Arison Luxury, where the group was staying during their visit. The injured were immediately shifted to Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla for treatment.
Medical sources said the victims sustained injuries mainly to their legs and lower body, with varying degrees of severity. All six patients were reported to be in stable condition after receiving medical care.
The injured persons were identified as Vinkatesh (65), son of Muni Thimmaiah; D. Mangula (54), wife of R.L. Murthy; Kushalla (18), daughter of Jayaram; Pankaja (16); Venkatalakshmamma (60), wife of Chinnya; and Sowbhagya (60), wife of Vinkatesh. All are residents of Bengaluru and were temporarily staying at the hotel at the time of the incident.
Officials said the exact cause of the lift malfunction remains unclear, and no formal statement has yet been issued by the hotel management. Authorities are expected to conduct an investigation to determine the reason behind the incident and whether any negligence was involved.
