Jammu: Girls outperformed boys in the class 12 summer zone results declared by Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Wednesday, even as the overall pass percentage saw a significant rise to 89.79 per cent, an official said.
A total of 39,309 students appeared in the examination (20,376 boys and 18,933 girls), out of which 35,299 (18,117 boys and 17,182 girls) successfully qualified, as per the official statistics. The overall pass percentage of 89.79 showed a notable improvement than the previous year’s 75.95 per cent.
The girls’ performance has once again surpassed that of boys. The pass percentage among girls stands at 90.75 per cent, compared to 88.91 per cent among boys, the official said.
The examination commenced on February 23, with the Board setting up 336 centres across the summer zone of the Jammu Division to ensure its smooth conduct.
Notably, government schools have also performed well by showing a pass percentage of 87.82, the official said.
Congratulating students on remarkable performance, Education Minister Sakeena Itoo said the improved results compared to previous years indicate the positive impact of ongoing educational reforms initiated by the government, enhanced teaching methodologies and better student support systems.
The minister also noted with appreciation that girls outperformed boys.
Commending the efforts of the teaching community, she said their dedication, especially in ensuring continuity of learning, has played a crucial role in achieving these outcomes.
Encouraging students who could not qualify, the minister urged them to remain determined and make use of continuing opportunities, assuring them of continued institutional support.
