Jammu: Security forces recovered a packet of heroin during a search operation near the International Border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu district on Friday, officials said.
The operation was carried out by the 165 Battalion of the Border Security Force in the area between Floura and Suchetgarh, about one kilometre from the International Border. During the search around 11:30 am, personnel recovered a yellow-wrapped packet from an agricultural field belonging to a local resident of Suchetgarh.
A team from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Jammu later reached the spot along with two arrested accused—Ramesh Lal of Digiana and Zahid Mohammad of Mandal Phalian—as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials said the recovered packet contained 503 grams of heroin (chitta). They added that the recovery was made in continuation of NCB FIR No. 05/2026, in which two packets of heroin had already been seized earlier from the same accused, taking the total recovery to three packets weighing around 1.5 kg.
Senior officers, including DIG BSF Chatarpal Singh and SDPO R S Pura Gurmeet Singh visited the spot and inspected the area. After completing legal formalities, the NCB team returned to Jammu with the recovered contraband for further investigation.
