NOV 1: Taking previous regimes to task, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on Saturday, said that Srinagar has been sidelined and left high and dry after National Conference-led Government left charge in 2014.
Pointing out the irregularities in 2014 Flood Relief Fund utilization, the CM Omar outlined that no project was signed to protect Srinagar from floods after 2014.
“Where is relief approved from the World Bank, where is flood relief money, Jehlem project money. If I narrate you the stories of Srinagar marginalized post 2014, it will take hours,” said CM.
“Srinagar has been left the same as it was in 2014, and Boulevard Road project was deferred it was kept only on papers after someone else came to power,” CM highlighted.
“Nothing has been done for the developmental upgradation of Srinagar, as every issue peratining to city’s betterment even traffic congestion has been neglected,” said CM Omar.
“Botanical Garden’s Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood took 9 months to facelift by NC, wouldn’t it have been developed in 9 years?,” CM questions.
“Only two Gardens have been developed in the past 20 years – one by Ghulam Nabi Azad sahib – Tulip Garden and other by us (NC) Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood.
Enumerating the achievements of his one-year tenure, CM Omar Abdullah said, “Bone and Joint Hospital’s new block was developed by us; exemption of fair for women has been done by NC and Darbar Move restored by us.”
In a major boost to connectivity and take city’s infrastructure a notch higher, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah laid foundation stone for the four-laning of Boulevard Road from Nehru Park to Karal Sangri in Srinagar.
CM Omar Abdullah was flanked by Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Salman Sagar and MLA Tanvir Sadiq.
The project, undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD) R&B Division Dalgate Srinagar, aims to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion in the area.
