Jammu: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has introduced a new initiative to strengthen governance and streamline developmental efforts across the Union Territory.
In an official order issued by the General Administration Department, districts have been allocated to various Ministers to ensure effective implementation of developmental programs, better monitoring of public services, and closer engagement with the public.
Surinder Kumar Choudhary, the Deputy Chief Minister, has been entrusted with the districts of Jammu, Poonch, Anantnag, and Shopian. Sakeena Masood (Itoo), Minister for Health and Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education, and Social Welfare, will oversee the districts of Kupwara, Srinagar, Kathua, and Samba.
Javed Ahmed Rana, the Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology and Environment, and Tribal Affairs, has been allocated the districts of Doda, Rajouri, Pulwama, and Baramulla. Mr. Javid Ahmad Dar, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives, and Elections, will monitor Ganderbal, Budgam, Kishtwar, and Ramban.
Satish Sharma, the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, and ARI and Trainings, has been assigned the districts of Reasi, Udhampur, Kulgam, and Bandipora.
The government order emphasizes the importance of this district-wise allocation in achieving closer coordination between the administration and citizens while ensuring a seamless delivery of services. This proactive measure is expected to strengthen the overall governance framework in the Union Territory.
The order was issued under the direction of Sanjeev Verma, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government.
