SEPT 16: Following the week-long suspension of internet services in Doda district, the 2G mobile internet services were restored on Tuesday.
It is learnt that the internet was suspended owing to the massive uproar signifying the dissent of people of Doda towards the detention of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik on September 8.
Since the low-speed mobile internet connectivity was re-established across Doda in the wee hours of the day whereat the residents encountered problems in accessing online banking services via limited bandwidth of 2G.
Notably, the authorities have restored the broadband internet services and lifted the restrictions under Section 163 BNSS in Doda.
SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta on Tuesday assured easing of restrictions step by step, including restoration of mobile internet services, but cautioned against uploading provocative videos or sharing bogus news.
MLA Mehraj Malik, who was at the helm of AAP’s J&K unit, was detained on September 8 and booked under PSA.
Widespread protests were witnessed across Doda after MLA Mehraj Malik’s detention on the heels of which authorities imposed prohibitory restrictions.
