AUG 21: In a tragic incident, a bus ferrying pilgrims met with an accident on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in Samba leaving one person dead and 40 others injured on Thursday.
As per the reports, bus, from Uttar Pradesh, carrying Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine pilgrims lost control at Jatwal in Samba district resulting in the death of one pilgrim on the spot and injuring 40 others.
The injured were evacuated to District Hospital Samba for treatment of multiple injuries.
It is learnt that the road crash took place at 3:20 AM after the bus overturned near High School Jatwal in Ghagwal tehsil.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed grief on the tragic incident and assured full possible support.
On X, CM Omar posted, “Expressed grief over the tragic bus accident in Samba carrying Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims, which has claimed one life and left many injured. Prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and assured all possible assistance.”
