Death mystery of JKNPP founder’s wife

Jammu: The mysterious death of Jaimala, wife of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) founder and veteran leader Bhim Singh, has once again sparked controversy after former MLA and JKNPP leader Harsh Dev Singh held a protest outside Police Station Domana demanding the arrest of those he alleges were involved in her killing.
Harsh Dev Singh accused the police of shielding the culprits and failing to act despite repeated appeals. “Arrest those who stole Jaimala’s dead body, arrest those who looted her bank account, arrest her killers. On April 26, 2023, Jaimala was murdered, and a report was filed with the police. We had also submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister, President, and Lieutenant Governor, requesting an inquiry into the matter. Despite forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT), no action has been taken yet, and the killers are still at large,” he said.
He further stated that the SIT, which consisted of a Superintendent of Police and two other members, had made no progress despite “numerous visits to their offices.” According to him, Jaimala’s son, Ankit Love, had provided crucial evidence to the police, including details about the alleged murder. He also alleged that the property of Bhim Singh, including land and buildings, had been looted and occupied following her death.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer told The News Now that police had summoned Domana resident Mrignayani Slathia, with whom Jaimala had been living, and her brother, advocate Vilakshan Singh, for questioning as they were under suspicion in the case. He said Slathia, who is a relative of Jaimala, handed over CCTV footage to the police showing Jaimala having an accidental fall from stairs. The officer further said that the postmortem report also indicated death due to a fall, suggesting no foul play. However, he added that further probe in the case is still underway.
The case, which dates back to April 2023, continues to remain unresolved with conflicting claims between the family and party leaders on one side and the police findings on the other.
