Assesses damages, assures compensation for affected Families

POONCH, JULY 18: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal today conducted an on-ground assessment of damages in Shahpur area caused by the landslides triggered by heavy rainfall.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a thorough inspection of the affected houses, roads, and other adjoining areas.
Accompanied by ACR Mohammad Sayeed, Tehsildar Haveli Azhar Majid and Naib Tehsildars along with other concerned officers, the Deputy Commissioner met each family whose houses suffered significant damage. The affected people urged for adequate compensation, prompting assurance of considerate measures from the Deputy Commissioner. He directed the ACR to initiate the process for providing relief to the affected families under the Red Cross and SDRF norms after proper assessment.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner also visited Ziarat Sai Mira Baksh, where he met with the management committee to discuss the local issues. The discussion focused on community welfare and other relevant matters.
The Deputy Commissioner further extended his visit to the Dera Santpura Nangali Sahib, where he inspected the Deri Sahib area, another region affected by the landslides. He issued directions to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for a thorough assessment and to take necessary measures to fix the sliding area, ensuring the safety of pilgrims in the future.
The administration is expected to continue its relief operations and closely monitor the situation as further assessments are carried out.
