Taking to social media site X, Shah posted, “On the day of his martyrdom, I pay my respectful tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the pioneer of the unity, integrity and cultural nationalism of the country. Dr. Mookerjee was the true architect of national unity. He never compromised with the divisive elements in West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir and resigned from the Nehru cabinet, sacrificing power. Dr. Mookerjee gave the country a political option by founding the Jana Sangh that put national interest above all and even sacrificed his life to keep Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India. The life of such a true worshipper of the motherland, revered Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, will continue to guide countless Indians for ages.”
