MAY 28: Batting the extensive promotion of tourism for Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said there is a need to promote Kashmir’s tourist destinations locally, especially before tourists who have began arriving in the recent times after Pahalgam massacre.
A day after the cabinet meeting in Pahalgam, CM Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level meeting in Gulmarg to send a message to the world that Kashmir is pro to peace.
CM Omar told reporters, “It is obvious that following Pahalgam carnage on April 22, the tourism has been hit by crisis, hence, the first step is being taken by the Government.”
Moreover, directions were passed to Education Minister Sakina Itoo to encourage schools and colleges to organise excursions to Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
For the restoration of people’s confidence, CM Omar Abdullah said reopening of iconic destinations must also be done across the valley.
