Rs 134.18 cr disbursed for establishment of 6078 IGUs in central Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 28: An amount of Rs 134.18 crore has been disbursed among the unemployed youths for establishment of Income Generating Units (IGUs) in the central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, officials said here today. They said under District Credit Plan 2016-17 the banks have disbursed Rs 134.18 crore for establishment of 6078 IGUs at the end of the third quarter of the financial year 2016-17 registering 24 per cent achievement. They said out of priority sector, Agriculture and allied activities registered 13 per cent, MSE 18 per cent, Education 17 per cent, Housing 8 per cent, Social infrastructure 4 per cent and renewable sector showed a growth of 87 per cent, while as CD ratio of the district stands at 62 per cent. However, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) stressed both bank officials as well as sponsoring agencies to play their role in improving economy of the district and addressing unemployment by achieving the set targets under various sectors for setting up income generating units. He also asked the financial institutions to sanction and disburse the cases strictly as per guide lines and in close co-ordination with sponsoring agencies. He advised NABARD and other concerned agencies for timely release of Subsidy and Margin money.
