Jammu: A shocking car theft incident has surfaced from the premises of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, raising serious concerns about security measures in the hospital’s parking area.
The victim, who had come to the hospital for the treatment of a family member, alleged that his car, an Alto 800, was stolen despite being parked under the observation of security personnel.
The owner shared his ordeal, stating, “I parked my car near the entry gate after being directed by a security guard because the designated parking area was full. When I returned after a while, the car was gone. Upon asking the security guard, I was told that keeping track of parked vehicles is not their responsibility.”
The victim expressed frustration over the lack of accountability, highlighting the fact that security guards are employed precisely to ensure the safety of vehicles and premises. “Whether it’s day or night, the responsibility lies with the security team. During the day, guards are visible, actively managing the parking area, but at night, their absence is concerning. How can visitors focus on their patients when they have to worry about their vehicles?” he questioned.
The stolen car contained several essential items, including a blanket for the patient, food, and important documents like the registration certificate (RC). The owner also raised fears about the car being misused for illegal activities, which could potentially land him in trouble. “I am a simple man, already dealing with the loss of my brother and other family issues. This theft has added to my troubles,” he said.
The victim filed a complaint with the police and demanded a thorough investigation. He criticized the authorities for their delayed response in initiating a search. “Cameras are installed at every corner, and police should have immediately tracked the car’s movement. If they can issue challans instantly, why can’t they recover stolen vehicles?” he asked.
