JUNE 17: With the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra slated to commence on July 3, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan arrived in Srinagar to take assessment of the security arrangements.
As per the reports, the Union Home Secretary will take stock of the security arrangements for the Amarnath pilgrimage and also review the current security scenario in J&K.
A review meeting is being chaired by the Union Home Secretary at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, contingents of Army and others are attending the meeting.
It is learnt that emphasis was given to robust communication channels, seamless coordination among the forces and advanced monitoring systems. Besides, the importance of enhancement in security infrastructure, personnel deployment and upgraded surveillance tactics was also highlighted.
The annual pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath Ji’s holy cave shrine will begin from July 3 to August 9, 2025. Pertinent to mention, that the cave shrine houses an ice stalagmite structure and devotees believe that the ice structure indictaes the mythical powers of Lord Shiva.
