AUG 1: In view of the inclement weather, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra remains suspended on Friday to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
No fresh batch of pilgrims has been allowed to depart from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu today.
It is learnt that over 4 lakh devotees have paid obeisance at the 3,880 metre high cave shrine of Baba Barfani nestled at South Kashmir’s Himalayas.
SANJY officials said, “The holy pilgrimage to Lord Shiva remains suspended today given the severe weather conditions, besides, no fresh batch of pilgrims have been allowed to proceed from Jammu.”
Furthermore, it is the second time pilgrimage has been called off from Jammu as on July 17 it was suspended owing to incessant rain and mudslides.
In 2024, over 5 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy shrine of Amarnath Ji.
Pertinent to mention, the yatra will culminate on August 9 coinciding with Raksha Bhandan.
