Gulmarg, May 25:Tourists were left suspended mid-air in Gulmarg after a technical fault forced the Gondola cable car service to stop suddenly, triggering a large-scale rescue operation.
Officials said nearly 300 passengers were inside the cable cars when the system developed an unexpected snag.
Soon after the incident, rescue teams from the Army , Jammu and Kashmir Police, and civil administration rushed to the site and began evacuation efforts.
Senior officials, including the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Tehsildar of Tangmarg, also reached the spot to oversee the operation.
Technical teams were deployed to identify the fault and restore the service.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said he is personally monitoring the rescue operation and has directed the DGP to proceed to the site. He added that a joint team of Police, Army, SDRF, DC and SSP is carrying out the evacuation to ensure the safety of all tourists.
