JULY 10: J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that there is a beacon of hope about the revival of tourism in Union Territory post the Pahalgam bloodshed that claimed the lives of 26 persons, mostly tourists.
In his keynote address at travel and tourism event in Kolkata, Omar Abdullah said we have expressed a strong desire for a new beginning in J&K with tourism “Recovering and Regaining” after the Pahalgam carnage.
“2025 was a difficult phase for us. The year can be divided in two parts – before and after Pahalgam attack. As we all observe that tourism is bouncing back in J&K, there is a message of hope,” Abdullah said.
People of West Bengal stand with J&K and the relationship between the two regions goes beyond limits in the context of affection and mutual brotherhood said Omar.
CM Omar Abdullah said that the Government is at forefront to ensure the safety of tourists in J&K.
“Every concern after Pahalgam massacre I understand and assure you the security arrangements in place. Please listen to the tourists who have returned from Pahalgam in the recent times,” Omar said.
The Amarnath Yatra is underway and a significant surge has been witnessed in number of direct flights to J&K, Omar said.
“Efforts are in full swing to give tourists a safe and secure destination in J&K,” Omar added.
