Srinagar, August 17: National Conference leader and MLA Tanvir Sadiq, while speaking to The News Now, on Monday reacted to the BJP’s protest in Jammu, the proposed Civil Secretariat gherao, the delay in restoration of statehood and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s recent “dimaagi Naxal” remark.
Reacting to the BJP protest at Dogra Chowk in Jammu, Sadiq alleged that the BJP is deliberately given permission to hold protests, while other political parties are not allowed to stage demonstrations in the same manner. He said that if the BJP has the right to protest, other political parties should also be given the same permission.
Sadiq also questioned the BJP over the delay in restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He said the BJP had promised to restore statehood, but the promise has not yet been fulfilled.
He further alleged that efforts were being made to weaken the National Conference-led government and claimed that several files sent to departments do not return, affecting the functioning of the administration.
On allegations of backdoor appointments, Sadiq said that if there are genuine concerns, the matter should be investigated properly. He alleged that the issue was being deliberately highlighted to create confusion among the people.
Sadiq also raised the issue of outsourcing, saying that the BJP-PDP government had introduced the system in 2017. He questioned the BJP’s present opposition to outsourcing and said the issue should be viewed in the context of decisions taken during the BJP-PDP government.
Reacting to PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s statement, “I support Article 370. I’m a dimaagi Naxal,” Sadiq said she was the same leader who had entered into an alliance with the BJP.
Mehbooba had made the remark after Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that supporters of Article 370 could be described as “dimaagi Naxals”.
Sadiq said the developments being discussed today should also be viewed in the context of decisions taken during the BJP-PDP alliance.
