Mendhar, June 4: An Army personnel was injured after his service weapon reportedly discharged accidentally while he was deployed in a forward area of Poonch district, officials said on Thursday.
The incident occurred late Wednesday in the Bolnoi sector of Mendhar, where the soldier was performing his duties when the accidental firing took place.
Following the incident, fellow personnel immediately arranged medical assistance and evacuated the injured soldier from the area. He was later shifted to a hospital in Rajouri for treatment.
Officials said the soldier is receiving medical care, while the circumstances surrounding the accidental discharge are being examined.
