SRINAGAR: In a major operation, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Patwari, Ashiq Hussain Shah, in Sofannaman area of Shopian, South Kashmir, for allegedly accepting a bribe from a client. The accused, a resident of Turkawangam, Shopian, was caught red-handed while receiving the illegal gratification.
According to officials, the ACB received a complaint that Shah had demanded a bribe to perform an official duty, following which a trap was laid and he was apprehended on the spot. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of law, and investigators are probing whether the accused was involved in similar acts earlier.
The ACB reiterated its commitment to tackling corruption and urged the public to report such incidents without hesitation.
