Srinagar, Sep 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly session began on Monday. The seven-sitting session will continue until September 30.
On the first day, BJP legislators protested during Question Hour and raised slogans against the government. They raised concerns over electricity and water issues and said, “A government that cannot provide electricity and water is a failed government.”
The protest led to disruptions in the proceedings of the House.
The opening session began with obituary references to former ministers Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Dharam Paul and Ghulam Hassan Khan. This was followed by Question Hour and the announcement of the Panel of Chairmen by Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.
The session is expected to witness discussions on employment, public services, reservation, regularisation of workers, governance and restoration of statehood.
The report of the House Committee on alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Jammu and Kashmir will also be presented in the House.
Minister in-charge Cooperatives Javid Ahmad Dar is scheduled to introduce a Bill seeking amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies Act, 1989.
As per the provisional schedule, government business is listed for September 22, while September 24 and 28 have been kept for Private Members’ Bills and September 25 for Private Members’ Resolutions.
