SEPT 2: Following the reports of presence of suspected people, security forces on Tuesday launched a cordon and search operation in several villages of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
A joint operation was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of Police and CRPF in Soyian Katha, Banjola forest, Jallian-Azamabad, Khanetar Mohalla, Kalsan and Dupriana on the heels of the specific information about movement of some suspected persons.
They said SOG along with troops of Rashtriya Rifles also conducted searches in Mendhar on Monday but found nothing during the operation.
Induction of more troops has been done to track and neutralize the suspected persons. The security forces are scanning the habitat and asking people to share information in this regard.
On Sept 1, soldiers thwarted an infiltration bid by terrorists along the LoC in Mendhar Sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Soldiers at the border observed a group of terrorists trying to sneak into the country from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir near Dabbi village of Balakote area in the wee hours of the day. The exchange of fire occurred between both sides. No casualty was reported from any side.
Pertinent to mention, on Aug 28, two terrorists were neutralized in a fierce gunfight as the Army foiled an infiltration attempt in the Gurez sector of Bandipora district.
