SEPT 5: A day after parts of Kashmir were inundated and rescue operations were aggressively pressed into action, educational institutes remained shut for the third consecutive day on Friday in the valley.
It is learnt that the classwork in all schools and colleges in the Kashmir valley has been suspended till Monday.
The order issued by Director School Education, Kashmir, on Thursday, reads, “It is mandatory to ensure the safety of school premises before the resumption of class work. In view of the recent inclement weather, triggering flood-like situation, several school buildings were submerged and sustained damage.”
As per the order, all class work in Government and Private Schools in Kashmir Division shall begin from Monday.
The director has notified that the helm of schools must give priority to civic measures, including cleanliness and sanitisation of school premises in advance so that the class work remains refrained from disturbances.
In a separate order issued by the Director Colleges, the class work in all Government Degree Colleges (GDCs) in J&K shall remain suspended till Saturday.
He said the decision was taken in light of inclement weather conditions and as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and security of students.
