JULY 28: Amidst tight security cover, more than 1,600 pilgrims depart Jammu in the wee hours of Monday for Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine nestled in South Kashmir’s Himalayas.
It is learnt that the 38-day-long pilgrimage to holy shrine of Amarnath was flagged off by LG Manoj Sinha on July 2 from Jammu and as of now, 3.77 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance.
Braving incessant showers and inclement weather conditions, the devotees were witnessed swept with religious fervour and gaiety for the yatra.
The batch of 1,635 pilgrims, which included 1,303 men, 286 women, four children, and 42 sadhus and sadhvis, left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp for the twin routes of Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal in Ganderbal district.
Chanting the hymns of Lord Shiva, devotees left under the thick cover of CRPF and Police from Bhagwati Nagar base camp today.
Pertinent to mention, the pilgrimage is scheduled to end on August 9, 2025.
