Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday handed over disbursal letters worth ₹1.12 crore to six beneficiaries under Mission YUVA at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “The real strength of Mission YUVA lies in enabling our youth to become entrepreneurs who create opportunities for others.”
Under Mission YUVA, the government informed that ₹209 crore has already been disbursed in 3,367 cases during April and May, reflecting a major push towards youth entrepreneurship and employment generation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said that out of 5,016 sanctioned cases amounting to ₹269 crore, ₹209 crore covering 3,367 beneficiaries has been released between April 1 and May 31.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, along with senior administrative officers including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary to the CM Dheeraj Gupta, ACS APD Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma, ACS Finance Shailendra Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Planning, Development and Monitoring Alice Vaz, Secretary Labour & Employment Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Mission Director Mission YUVA, Director IIM Jammu, and representatives of J&K Bank.
Congratulating the beneficiaries, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the financial assistance would help them establish and expand sustainable business ventures, generating employment opportunities for others.
He said Mission YUVA represents a structured push to build a strong ecosystem for entrepreneurship in J&K by providing credit support, skill development, and mentorship to young aspirants.
Omar Abdullah further said the initiative aims to bridge the gap between ideas and execution by improving coordination between banks, government departments, and training institutions.
He added that sustained focus on youth empowerment through Mission YUVA would help unlock the potential of Jammu and Kashmir’s young population across sectors such as services, agriculture-based enterprises, tourism, and small-scale manufacturing.
