New Delhi, August 21: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday staged a dharna at the Parliament Street police station, demanding an FIR over pellet injuries allegedly suffered by 19-year-old Sahil Lochab during a July 20 protest.
Rahul Gandhi first approached the Mandir Marg police station with Lochab, but after his demand was not accepted, they went to Parliament Street police station and met Central DCP Sachin Sharma.
After the meeting failed to resolve the matter,Rahul Gandhi and Lochab sat on a dharna. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other senior leaders also joined the protest.
Lochab reportedly sustained pellet injuries to his eyes and abdomen during the protest against the NEET paper leak and alleged examination irregularities. He subsequently underwent treatment at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
Rahul Gandhi accused authorities of failing to act on Lochab’s complaint and demanded justice, saying an FIR should be registered and those responsible should face action.
Police sources said Lochab’s complaint would be forwarded to the Delhi Police Crime Branch, which is already investigating complaints related to the incident.
